My 401k gone i need help!?
I lost my job in 2008 and have not been able to even land a job at jack in the box. I left my 401k to sit in my employers plan to find out today that i lost so much of my fund that they cashed me out. Is their any way i can go without loosing money with all the penalties?. I started my 401k at 19 y/o and i don’t want to lose now at age 23 .I see the only way to survive is to be self employed so I am opening a business in two weeks to see how it goes. This economy sucks for young boomers. Thanks in advance for your answers.
Unfortunately, I think this question may have come too late. You could have avoided the penalties by rolling the 401k into an IRA. However, if they already “cashed you out”, then you’ll be penalized now even if you put it all in another retirement plan.
