credit card fraud by spouse what is the law?

I have rencently found out that my spouse desperate for money has forged my name to an account placing her as an authorized user. Companies attorney has contacted me in order to pay the amount owe. I have requested copies of application and or statements . I received copy of application with two distintive handwritings I also receivd a copy of a payment made by my spouse to this unknow credit card to me. I have denied any knowlege to the company of this account and or charges.
isn’t there a law in California that protects me from this fiasco?

With California being a community property State your only chance of getting out of this is to file a police report on your wife and send a copy to your credit card company.
